The Immersion Series
While classic planetarium users will recognize that the immersion series is fundamentally a set of slide shows, the full-dome projection capabilities plus the application of 'Ken Burns Effects' and some very simple 3-D modeling make these shows remarkably powerful audio-visual experiences. We use them with our University's Wellness Program. Faculty and staff from all over campus come to be in the calm, quiet, soothing space of the planetarium for half an hour or so. This is especially useful around the end of the semester, when stress levels on campus peak, and everyone is feeling stretched. All are accompanied by beautiful, relaxing music from Magnatune.com.
Because of the very slow pace, these shows are not recommended for children, unless you intend to 'voice-over', and narrate them.
-
Western Immersion is full of beautiful mountain and desert imagery of Utah and nearby states, accompanied by beautiful music. 25 min, available now!
-
Cosmic Immersion uses imagery from NASA's Great Observatories: Hubble Space Telescope, Spitzer Space Telescope, and Chandra, to take you on a tour of the cosmos. Celtic music from Magnatune supplies the audio backdrop for this out-of-this-world experience. 40 min, available now!

Hubble's 15th Anniversary
For Hubble's birthday, NASA took the highest resolution pictures ever obtained of two of the Universe's most-beautiful objects: the Eagle Nebula and the Whirlpool Galaxy. We've put them on the dome, zoomed in and out and panned across. For sheer oohs and aahs, this is the show!

Ultra-Short Shorts
Sometimes, we are just playing around, trying to figure out how to do things. This leads to some really fun pieces, that you can get all on one CD. Some planetaria are using these as part of their fund-raising or as part of their negotiations with administrators. We use them just for fun. A sample of what you'll find on the disk includes:
-
SAVI-Ott Visualization Demo: The Scientific Analysis and Visualization Initiative at Weber State University focuses on bringing Departments together to figure out how to share and use the resources on campus. Begun as an effort to leverage small numbers of computers for parallel processing, SAVI has grown to be an umbrella for collaborations of all kinds. This very short piece has examples of how we are using the planetarium to visualize content for Microbiology, Geosciences, Physics, Chemistry, and Architecture/Graphic Design Departments on campus.
-
High Impact Physics: Admit it, you always wanted to knock all the blocks down as soon as you built a structure. Now you can do it full-dome style, when your structure is 30 feet across! Developed as part of some experimentation with a physics engine plug-in for 3DS Max, this 1 minute show is more fun than, well, than a barrel of blocks.
-
Zoom to Ott: Konica-Minolta zooms in from space to K-M tower in Tokyo. We think ours is better, because you wind up here in Ogden, UT. This one makes the little children scream. We like making little children scream.
-
Production Trailers: Of course we're going to slap some of these on there -- you are a captive audience!
