Small Business Development Center
Weber State University
Our Mission:
Our mission is to strengthen the Top of Utah’s economic fabric and quality of life by facilitating the success and prosperity of business endeavors.
Our Approach:
We are a teaching and learning organization. Our approach to business development is to help entrepreneurs develop the skills they need to succeed, either through classroom experiences or one-on-one consultation. We provide a listening ear, objective analysis and advice, and technical expertise to help clients start and grow their businesses. As an integral part of the University community, the SBDC also utilizes students and faculty when needed.
We consult with over 300 clients annually, including startup companies, micro-enterprises, traditional small businesses, and high-growth companies. Thanks to the generous support of our funding partners, there is no charge for consulting services.
We also provide training and educational opportunities for approximately 800 individuals a year, ranging from brief seminars to semester-long programs in entrepreneurship. These educational opportunities are provided at no or low fee to the small business owner or manager.
We are a partnership organization of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
The Weber State University Small Business Development Center is part of the Utah SBDC Network. The Network currently has ten regional offices located throughout the State of Utah and several satellite locations to assure easy access to services. For a map of locations go to UtahSBDC.org.
The Weber State University Small Business Development Center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement between the John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics, the Utah State Governor's Office of Economic Development and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
