Allosaurus

This theropod was the dominant land preditor of the Jurrasic time perios 135-180 million years ago. Most specimens are 30-35 feet long and they weighed several tons. Allosaurus had stuout hips and legs which supported its massive body; the skull was light in weight with a huge jaw and an awesome bite. The forelimbs were strong and well-armed with claws. This dinosaur was an earlier relative of TYRANNOSAURUS which appeared 45 million years later during the Cretaceous time period.
