Program notes:
September 10th “Classically Jazzed up Folksongs” will feature a rare and fun combination of trumpet, violin and 4 cellos. It will present unique arrangements of folk and popular music from the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Great Britain, Macedonia and Serbia. These entertaining arrangements will be played by billboard charting cellist Nicole Pinnell, international soloist violinist Carmelo de los Santos, WSU cello alumni Austin Packer & Ciera Rasmussen , and WSU faculty Daniel Jonas & Viktor Uzur. Additionally, the newly released “Folk Songs” CD will be available at the concert.
September 11th internationally acclaimed faculty from the University of Utah, Utah State University, University of New Mexico and Weber State University will present two celebrated piano quartets by two close friends, and likely two of the most important and beloved romantic composers, Schumann and Brahms. These chamber music marvels are charged with dramatic contrasts and contain some of the most beautiful melodies which were inspired by Clara Schumann, a famous pianist whom they both deeply admired and loved...
